I got a chance to have a nice chat with Jason Michael Paul, concert producer of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony and Legend Of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses which is currently touring around the country.
In the latest episode of the Radical Insider, we talk about his experience with a variety of luminary game composers like Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Koji Kondo (Zelda), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), J-Pop star Angela Aki and more famous notables like Elton John and Michael McDonald. We get down to the business of producing concerts with the gaming soundtracks as well as how those licenses get locked in and settle the score over which games inspired him into the realm of concert production.
It’s a fun interview that humanizes the entrepreneurial spirit. Paul takes as far back as his days in San Francisco State University and quickly recounts the milestones over how he got into concert production. If you’re ever interested in getting into producing concerts or thinking about getting your foot into the gaming industry, listen to this man’s tale of how he got there.
