Sharp Super Hi Vision TV

Sharp has announced the Sharp Super Hi-Vision display, the highest resolution TV currently being demonstrated in the world…so far.  Where most current TV’s max out at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, this new Sharp TV is about 7,680 x 4,320 pixels.  This is about 16x the resolution than most current 1080 TVs.

The initial prototype’s screen measured out at about 85 inches.  There is currently no media out for this TV but Sharp does expect TV stations to be trasnmitting this resolution in 2020.

Think a Blu-ray disc would work, think again.  The jump from Blu-ray to this resolution is similar to the jump from VHS to current 1,080P standards, as stated by Sharp.

Here’s a video of the prototype that was shown and even through youtube, the picture of this set looks amazing.
