The gaming phenomenon that has garnered 36m downloads on various smartphones is going to make its debut on game consoles. XBox 360, PS3 and Wii. In less than a year, Angry Birds has captured the imagination of millions of smartphone owners. Its simple premise, where birds are catapulted into different structures hiding egg-stealing pigs, brought more than 2m downloads in the first weekend alone.
Peter Vesterbacka, the chief executive of Angry Birds maker Rovio, today confirmed that his lo-fi creation is now being developed for the major gaming platforms. “The smartphone gaming platform is actually turning out to be the biggest and most played out there. So it’s starting to beat the traditional games on consoles and PCs” said Vesterbacka.
While it’s a no brainer bringing this huge game into consoles, I’m also hoping that it will take advantage of 360’s Kinect and the Playstation Move but not be exclusive to it so that anyone can enjoy this puzzler. It’s also been announced that it will be multiplayer but how they will go about doing it will be a mystery.
Hey, you know what’s even cooler? Angry Birds Plush Toys.
