The Behringer family of products have added a new member. The Music Group has announced the acquisition of Turbosound, the award winning English based loudspeaker company.
CEO and founder of the Music Group, Uli Behringer, said in a statement, “Since the acquisition of MIDAS and KLARK TEKNIK we have been pursuing a loudspeaker brand that complements the consoles and processing offered by these historic brands. Throughout our search TURBOSOUND have stood out as the ideal match because of their extensive IP, sterling reputation and a first-class team of people. I am very proud to welcome Simon Blackwood and his team to our family.”
The Music Group consists of Behringer, Turbosound, Midas / Klark Teknnik and Bugera. Since the 2009 purchase of Midas, Behringer has shown off a new X32 digital console with Midas technology. The mic pre-amps and UI of the console have been designed by the Midas company and Behringer has given it the phrase “powered by Midas”.
Turbosound is an award winning loudspeaker company based within West Sussex. The 30 year old company has won three “Queens Awards” in the UK, the most recent in 2012 for the creation of loudspeakers that can disperse sound for a large group of people better than other companies loudspeakers. The Flashline series of speakers uses two new concepts that they are calling the Polyhorn and Dendritic waveguides, which allow these speakers 75 degrees horizontal dispersion. Behringer makes loudspeakers also but without the excellent reputation of Turbosound so some of this technology will probably end up in new Behringer loudspeaker boxes.
Behringer has stated that the company will invest in Turbosound. The company has spent $20 million on the Midas / Klark Teknik companies on automated manufacturing, quality control systems and engineering.
