Just before Facebook’s IPO goes live, they’ve hired on the whole staff from Lightbox. Originally, Lightbox was an Android photo app that allows you to store photos in the cloud but also see your friends’ photos from other social networks. Facebook will that talent to hopefully combine it with the likes of Instagram in some fashion. Lightbox founders wrote this in their blog today:
“Today, we’re happy to announce that the Lightbox team is joining Facebook, where we’ll have the opportunity to build amazing products for Facebook’s 500+ million mobile users,”
And Facebook said:
“The Lightbox team has incredible experience developing innovative mobile products that people love,… We look forward to welcoming this world-class team of engineers to Facebook.”
I used Lightbox when it was just a beta release. I’m glad to see they’ve made it into the big leagues.
