Fun With Numbers: Capcom Releases Sales Expectations For Fiscal Year 2011

Sean W. May 27, 2011 0

Capcom has released a sales expectations chart for fiscal year 2011.  This chart shows the total number of titles to ship per platform, the expected sales for each of the platforms in millions and comparison between 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Lets go over the chart and see what stands out.

  • Capcom will ship more titles for the PS3 than any other platform.  They are expecting to ship 16 titles to the PS3, 14 titles to the Xbox 360 and 2 titles to the Wii.
  • Capcom is also expecting to sell millions more on the PS3 than any other platform.  They are expecting to sell a total of 8 million games on the Ps3 compared to 4.7 million units on the Xbox 360 and 200,000 units on the Wii.
  • Wii support from Capcom has been on the decline.  Capcom shipped 14 games on Nintendo platform in 2009, 8 games in 2010, 5 in 2011 and only 2 in 2012.
  • Capcom is planning to release 11 titles for the PSP in 2012 and expecting 2.2 million in sales.  This is a far cry less than the 11 titles they shipped for 2011 that did sell 6.7 million units.

I expect the recent announcement of Monster Hunter HD for the PS3 to be the reason for the better expected sales on the PS3 this fiscal year.
