Right now, movie rental businesses are under contract with movie studios to allow rentals or streaming of movies 28 days after the DVD release. Redbox, not content with the recent plans of Warner Bros. to extend the wait time to 56 days will let their contract expire to get around the delay. It seems the reason to get into an agreement with the studios is to get a lower rate on buying discs for renting. Redbox will pay full price for the discs thus getting around the contract terms.
What do you think? Other than not having to wait a month or two to rent a Warner Bros. movie, do you see this affecting a customer in any way?
