Dish TV now delivers recorded TV via Sling to iPad

Radford C. Dec 1, 2010 1

Dish Network customers can now brag about watching their favorite shows, sports teams and movies all on the iPad. With the service already available for a strong list of devices. That includes PCs, Macs, iPhones, Androids and even Blackberry phones.

However, it may not sound as straightforward.

For you Dish guys out there, here is what you need:

  1. You will need to download the app (free)
  2. A Dish ViP 722 or 722k HD DVR
  3. A Sling Adapter to go with your Dish ViP or DVR – a$99 cost for Dish subscribers

In an e-mailed statement to CNET sent last month when Dish first announced its “TV Everywhere” service, a company representative acknowledged that current Slingbox owners could already achieve this functionality by connecting the Slingbox to a DVR and accessing it either from a computer or mobile device.

The representative was quick to point out, though, that Dish’s mobile app is free. Currently, Sling sells its iPad app for $29.99 in Apple’s App Store.
