Over the past few months, major companies’ servers have been hacked left and right. Hackers have had access to personal info as well as confidential company info. In some cases, this is scary: we’re not as secure as we thought. On the other hand, this will push companies to increase security measures to avoid these incidents in the future. The latest companies to be affected by this were Twitter and Fox News.
Once the hackers got into the Fox News Twitter account, they immediately tweeted fake news including that our president had been assassinated. Obviously, this is not true. Upon the alert, Fox News informed the Secret Service but currently they are not commenting on the situation. Fox News’ VP, Jeff Misenti, said they are working closely with Twitter to figure out how the hackers entered the system.
“We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorized access into FoxNews.com accounts,” Misenti said.
No group or singular hacker is claiming responsibility.
