Google Maps isn’t the only Google app that’s being dropped in iOS 6. Reports are coming in stating that Apple is discontinuing the YouTube app but Google is working on their own. iOS 6 Beta for Developers has received a few updates that removes the well known YouTube app. According to Apple,

“Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.”

So not to worry. You can still follow, subscribe, comment and do what you do best on YouTube on your iPhone; this time, it’ll be done within an app made by Google. Some key updates that would benefit iOS users would include ‘HD quality’ mode and captions. But since this means a users has to download the YouTube app, will Apple attempt to make their own like they did with Maps?
