I wonder of Steve Jobs is turning in his grave right now. I highly doubt that he would allow pre-paid options on his beloved iPhone product. But this is the start of a Cook era. Since Sprint started selling the iPhone 4s rumors have been circulating saying its pre-paid MVNOs like Boost and Virgin would start to offer the iconic device. Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that Virgin Mobile will be the first Sprint MVNO to do just that. The official announcement may come out this week and the phone will reach the pre-paid shelves on July 1st.
Virgin Mobile’s not the only pre-paid mobile service to offer the iPhone. Cricket Wireless will start selling it on June 22nd. Sprint declined to comment on this rumor.
