Microsoft rolled out several updates to its SkyDrive cloud storage service today. Features include improved UI for its web and Windows Phone-based users and Open Document Format (ODF).
Next to ODF support, Microsoft has added an option to share files to Twitter from the web version of SkyDrive interface and the ability to upload 300MB. Additionally, URLs that are pushed to Twitter via Windows Phone will now be shortened using Microsoft’s sdrv.ms URL shortener. Along with those announcements, Microsoft teased the promise of “some really big things coming soon” for SkyDrive. In the podcast, we’ve had the inevitable showdown Google Drive in the horizon and expect the two tech giants to duke it out on the cloud storage market. Stay tuned.
