Home Media Magazine reports that Sony Pictures is adding features to some of the movies it offers on digital distribution outlets such as iTunes. The features include “enhanced search” which allows viewers to search for terms such as character names, actor, and even dialog. Another feature is for social networking called “clip & share.” Viewers can share on Facebook or Twitter certain film clips from the movie. “Interactive music playlist” will link to a song on the iTunes Music Store that is playing on the movie. Films available with some of the enhanced features include Burlesque, The Other Guys, Salt and Resident Evil:Afterlife. It will be interesting to see if this will be perceived by consumers as an added value, such as the special features on physical media such as DVD and Blu-ray.
