Griffin IntelliCase Review (iPad 2/New iPad)

We’ve reviewed a good amount of cases for the iPad 2 but protecting your iPad with style is a must. Some people don’t want to buy a case and cover like they will with the Aviiq Smart Cover. And some just don’t want to spend around $100 for the Tumi Ballistic Case. I understand that and that’s why I recommend the Griffin Intellicase for the average buyer. You can find this case in stores and online ranging from only $25 to $60.

In many ways, the Intellicase reminds me of the Tumi Ballistic Case but not as heavy duty. It had a smart cover with the correct polarity of magnets so I did not experience any issues turning off/on the iPad 2. The cover has 3 folds, similar to an Apple Smart Cover but they’re spaced out differently so you cannot make a triangle stand out of it. Instead, you can make a wedge shape and the cover fits perfectly into the back cover’s slot.

The back cover is mold plastic that contours perfectly to the iPad’s shape and leaves openings for the buttons and camera. Toward the bottom, it has a large cut out for the charger and the speaker rather than covering the speaker with a “grill.”

I have had some great experiences with Griffin in the past. From my iPod to my iPhone and my iPad, Griffin was usually the first brand I looked to for decent accessories. The Intellicase meets my expectations. For half the price of an official Smart Cover from Apple, you’ll have full protection all the way around your iPad. You’ll still have a smart cover with and peace of mind knowing the case will be there to protect the device if dropped. You can purchase the device from Amazon, Target or Griffin’s website.
